  3. Top 3 Reasons People Don’t Use Video

Let me ask you a question. Have you ever purchased something at a garage sale, on Ebay or on Craigslist that was practically new? Or, better yet, have you ever SOLD anything at a garage sale, on Ebay or through Craigslist that was practically new because you just didn’t have time to figure it out!

I actually purchased an armoire from Ikea® once with every intention of putting it together and saving a few bucks. The thing weighed 100 pounds…easily! I drove around with that box in the back of my truck for about 2 weeks before I drove it back to the store, unopened, untouched, and still right where they loaded it…and returned it. Too many instructions; not enough time to figure it out!

How to Implement your Marketing Plan

Steps for Content Marketing StrategySometimes we buy a shiny new object or the latest gadget with the best intentions of doing something great with it, only to discover that we either didn’t need it or didn’t have the time to figure it all out.

This is true for many online business owners when they purchase training course after training course to get them to “the next level” in their business only to leave that valuable information locked up in a PDF on their desktop.

There are some great training programs available, but if you don’t implement them they are useless!

Why do we do this? Part of it is because there is so much to do when marketing your business online. Lots of moving parts, right?

However, when you break it down to the most basic level, you can easily start with a marketing strategy that involves just three platforms and then build from there: Your Blog (the hub); Videos; and a social platform (I use Facebook primarily).

Yes, you can do more. You can always do more. But the problem is that people often start looking at the “more” and simply freeze up and do nothing.

So take it in steps.

And in this article I want to direct you to the Top 3 Reasons that your competition is NOT using video…then I want you to grab your camera, overcome the obstacles, and speed past those that are hesitating!

Why Video Is So Important for Content Marketing

Video Marketing tipsWith over 4 Billion Daily Views, YouTube is the 2nd Largest Search Engine in the World. And video is the most shared medium across Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus. We know video works…but getting started can be challenging, right?

According to James Wedmore, Online and Video Strategist, there are three major roadblocks keeping most people from getting started and seeing results from YouTube:

Lack of Time, Fear, and Lack of Knowledge.

1. “I don’t have the time to make videos!”

Yes, making a video takes longer than pinning a picture or updating your Facebook Status, but it doesn’t have to take THAT much longer. With a simple camera, or the help of a friend or nearby professional, you can get a series of YouTube Videos filmed and uploaded very quickly!

Yet here’s his biggest rebuttal to the “No Time” Argument: James has videos that he made in 2008 (5 yrs ago!) that are STILL bringing in new sales and new customers…and he hasn’t touched those videos since he originally uploaded them!

In other words, your video can give you years of mileage. So when you’re considering the ROI of your time and money, would it be worth it to you to spend a little up front to get YEARS of results?

Of course!

2. “I’m Scared to Death of Being on Video!”

I don’t blame you! I hate being on camera myself! Part of it is because it requires me to do my hair and makeup and as an entrepreneur I usually work very casually. Like shorts and a pony tail!

But here’s the good news…you don’t have to be in front of the camera!

You’ve heard me mention James Wedmore’s membership site, Reel Marketing Insider. He has a complete module on different ways to create videos where you don’t have to be the “star” of the show. And, you can find and hire people to do these for you very reasonably.

One method I’ve used for a client of mine is to hire out a voice over from a script I’ve prepared, and then hire someone to create a video to create visuals to go with the voice.

Depending on the complexity of the video, I’ve been able to get this done from $10 – $150. Because I have a purpose for each video, a good idea how much each new customer is worth, and the knowledge that this little monetary investment will work for me for years, the upfront cost is a no-brainer.

3. “I Don’t Know What to Do OR How to Do it!”

This is usually the reason I procrastinate on something important…I just don’t know HOW to do it…and I don’t want to waste time making a ton of mistakes.

The good news is that you CAN learn how to do video. From actually scripting out the video to the finished product to the strategy behind it. It’s not a secret. It’s just that most people get overwhelmed.

One of the things I love about Reel Marketing Insider is that it’s an active site that is set up for ACTION. You can sit down and learn all day long. But at some point you have to stop learning and start doing, right?

The “doing” is what brings in the revenue
